Getting an Egg
Baby Pokemon
Baby Pokemon such as Wynaut, Azurill, Budew, Chingling, Bonsly, Mime Jr., Happiny, Munchlax and Mantyke breed normally without Incense.
Nidoran and Volbeat with Ditto
Nidoran-M and Volbeat bred with Ditto can produce female offspring: Nidoran-F or Illumise.
Teaching Egg Moves in the Day Care
A Pokemon holding a Mirror Herb in the Day Care can learn Egg Moves from the other Pokemon regardless of species.
Egg groups
Gen 8 egg-group additions are applied.
Vivillon patterns
The Scatterbug, Spewpa and Vivillon line always breeds into the Fancy pattern.
Breeding rules
What the baby inherits
Poke Ball
The Egg inherits a parent’s Poke Ball. The father can pass it down too when he is the same species as the mother.
TM moves
Fathers do not pass down TM moves.
Egg Moves
Either parent can pass down Egg Moves.
Nature
A parent holding an Everstone always passes down its Nature.
Ability
There is an 80% chance to pass down a regular Ability and 60% for a Hidden Ability. Either parent can pass it, including when bred with Ditto.
IVs
Three of the baby’s six IVs are inherited at random from its parents. A parent holding a Destiny Knot raises that to five inherited IVs.
Power items
A parent holding the matching Power item always passes down that stat’s IV, using one inherited slot. If both parents hold one, one is chosen at random.
Breeding rules
Hatching
Hatch level
Eggs hatch at level 1.
Egg-cycle length
Egg cycles use the original longer step counts rather than the shortened modern cycle length.
